JR Inkjet Universal Zap-It is required for some Epson cartridges that contain \'Intellidge\' Chips. The Zap-It will Reprogram the Intellidge Chip to show a full ink level once the cartridge has been refilled. The Zap-It kit is required when refilling the following Epson printer cartridges:
- Epson Stylus Colour: 680, 685, 777, 777i, C50, C60
- Epson Stylus Photo: 780, 780EPX, 790, 810, 820, 830, 870, 875, 875DC, 890, 895, 915, 925, 950, 1270, 1280, 1290, 2000P, 2100, R300
- Epson Stylus: C42, C44, C60, C62, C64, C70, C80, C82, C84,R200,R300,R800
How to use the Zap-ItBefore refilling all Epson chipped cartridges:
- Hold the Zap-It, so that the two (green & red) lights are facing upwards.
- Turn the cartridge upside down so that the outlet holes are also facing upwards.
- Locate the cartridge into the appropriate slots of the Zap-It. This should locate the prongs from the Zap-It against the chip. (You will need to use the L shape lug, which detaches from the Zap-It for the C70, C80, C82 & 5200).
- Push the cartridge and the Zap-It together.
- Both lights will flash once simultaneously, then the green light will flash five times to show that chip is reprogrammed.
- If the red light flashes it may mean either, the prongs are not in line with the chip, or the cartridge you are reprogramming is not an original Epson or a Compatible.
- You may now proceed with refilling your cartridge as per instructions in your refill kit.
